Our Parenting Degree Program, funded through the city’s Department of Human Services, is in its seventh year of operation. Its primary purpose is to teach parenting skills and to enhance parent’s ability to be successful in raising their children. Each year, our program enrolls 200 to 250 participants who attend workshops at 10 different sites throughout the city. The workshop curriculum includes a range of subjects designed to help parents protect their children from the daily hazards of inner-city life.

*Child Abuse/Neglect *Building Self-Esteem *Positive Discipline *Anger/Behavior Management *Home Management *Home/Community Safety *Keeping Your Child Healthy *Strengthening Your Family *Stages of Child Development *Improving School Attendance *Violence Intervention *Stress Management *Effective Communication Skills *Homework Hassles *Bonding with Your Children *Bridging the Separation Gap
The class sessions generally run during the evening hours, for 11 weeks. Participants receive $20.00 childcare, 2 tokens for transportation, as well as refreshments at the primary locations.
Eligibility: All Philadelphia residents who are parents of a child under 18 years old.
